What to Expect

The Little Brushy Climbing Area is located in Sequatchie Valley just outside of Dunlap, TN about 40 minutes from Chattanooga. It is on the southside of HWY 111 as it climbs up the Cumberland Plateau adjacent to Little Brush Creek. There are approximately 75 routes there currently with the potential for more development of routes and boulders. The bulk of climbing development took place over the past 5-10 years and it is likely there was exploration by climbers before that.

Join our Trail day for exclusive first access and help us get some big projects done:

Little Brushy already offers approximately 75 existing routes, with potential for many more. It includes routes that range from 5.11 to 5.14 and the northern facing cliff line offers shady days and an ideal summer crag spot.

Access to Little Brushy was made possible through the joint efforts of the SCC, Access Fund, and Lyme Timber Company to establish a long term access lease. Through this partnership, we hope to establish similar relationships with other corporate land owners like Lyme to further access across the Southeast. It is now our job as climbers to show that our community is made up of responsible and reliable stewards of the land!

Route development at Little Brushy is on-going. If you are interested in route development, please read the Fixed Hardware guidelines and submit new route proposals during the open proposal periods.

Individual volunteers across Alabama, Georgia & Tennessee do the tough work of developing new routes for everyone to enjoy. SCC does not actively manage or supervise route development. Rather, we provide standards and guidelines that we recommend route developers follow. We also help parks and land managers develop standards and guidelines for route development on their land and act as a liaison between route developers and land managers. Accordingly, SCC assumes no liability for route development; this information is for the convenience of the climbing community only. Climb at your own risk and use your own judgment to evaluate any route and the fixed hardware placed there.
