National Public Lands Day 2019

WHERE

Denny Cove

WHEN

Saturday – Sunday, Sept. 28 – 29

9 AM – 12 PM Trail Work (both days)

7 PM – ??? Camp Out (Saturday)

Celebrate National Public Day with the Southeastern Climbers Coalition, REI, South Cumberland State Park, Friends of South Cumberland, and High Point Climbing & Fitness at Denny Cove. We will work on the approach trail to Denny East and continue tackling the staging area at the Buffet Wall.

Volunteers can work either or both days (9 AM – 12 PM Central). All volunteers are welcome to camp at Denny Cove on Saturday night, including a cookout sponsored by High Point Climbing & Fitness. Meet at the Denny Cove parking lot at 9 AM Central Standard Time with water and snacks for the day. Be prepared for a ~30 minute hike to the crag, heat, bugs, and a lot of high fives! We’ll work until 12 PM (sometimes later, but you’re free to come and go as needed.)

If you can’t make it the event, the SCC Stewardship Coordinator will be working for the following weeks and will take volunteers on those days!

Please register for complete event information, updates and swag upon arrival. All campers must register ahead of time.

All Participants are Required to Sign our Trail Day Waiver

Can’t be there but wanna spread the love? We still owe $$ for access to this sweet crag. DONATE NOW to help payoff the loan!

This project is funded in part by a grant received from REI Brentwood for the Denny Cove Infrastructure Project.

Mark your calendars for BYOB 2019, our biggest (FUN)draiser of the year!

SCC is celebrating our EIGHTH annual Buy Your Own Boulderfield (BYOB) event. To date, we’ve raised over $30,000 for continued access to outdoor climbing areas. This year, our goal is to raise $10,000 towards paying off Denny Cove! We still owe $60,000 left on our Denny Cove loan.

Event Highlights:

Live & Silent Auction: Rad stuff from our sponsors for a good cause!

Costume Contest: Throwback Climber! Dress like a climber from the past to be entered to win a prize! Think of decade trends such as swami belts, neon leggings, high top climbing shoes, crop top shirts…

Games, music, beer, food, and MORE!

If interested in being a sponsor or volunteering, please contact Andi Abode at andifabode@gmail.com

This event takes place the night before Triple Crown at Stone Fort. Participants can pick up registration packets at the Triple Crown booth at BYOB.
