Sunset Rock plays a very important role in SCC’s origin story. For many years, we have partnered up for National Trails Days to support this iconic Chattanooga crag. Please join us to keep the tradition alive and support our great relationship with the NPS!

Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park and the Southeastern Climbers Coalition are looking for volunteers for National Trails Day on Saturday, June 7, 2025. 

Join National Park Service staff and other volunteers for a workday on the Bluff Trail starting at the stairs leading down to Sunset Rock. This year’s project focuses on removing the dilapidated sign at the base and invasive removal. Volunteers can expect to return to their cars at around noon. All tools and supplies will be provided to volunteers. Volunteers are asked to wear long pants and sturdy, close-toed shoes, no flip-flops. Sunscreen and water are recommended. 

Meet: Craven’s House

Start Time: 9:00 AM Eastern Time

End Time: 12:00 PM Eastern Time 

Bring: Work gloves, reusable water bottle/water, snacks, bug spray, sunscreen

Wear: Sturdy closed-toe shoes, long pants/sleeves recommended
