ATTENTION CLIMBERS: Pond Creek is not ready for climbers or developers just yet. We will announce opening day, access details and route development practices in time. For now, let’s celebrate this win and we hope you plan to join us on August 10th at the Trail Day!

Land Manager: Matt McBride

What to Expect

Pond Cove is located at the Canyon on Pond Creek property, it is in Sequatchie Valley about 50 minutes from Chattanooga. If you follow Hwy 111 just past Dunlap and turn at the Dollar General in Graysville you will follow switchback roads. Once you get to the main gate you will drive a mile on gravel road to a parking lot and stairs which will bring you down to the first access point for the crag. There is also an access point just before the first glamping dome and a third less established access point past all of the domes. Please respect the privacy of the guests and land owners. Please never top out routes or disturb guests.

Pond Cove offers a wide range of routes from 5.7 to 5.13 Sport Routes and Trad Routes starting at 5.7. There are roughly 100 routes already developed and room for much more. You can find a wide array of climbing styles and grades here, featuring Steep, long roof climbs, Long Slab Faces, Bomber Arete Climbs, and Off-Width long Crack Lines.

It is best to be prepared with an AWD or 4WD Vehicle since the drive includes almost 2 miles of gravel road. Please fill out the waiver to receive the gate code, which will change periodically.

Join our Trail day for exclusive first access and help us get some big projects done:

If you are interested in route development, please read the Fixed Hardware guidelines and submit new route proposals during the open proposal periods.

Individual volunteers across Alabama, Georgia & Tennessee do the tough work of developing new routes for everyone to enjoy. SCC does not actively manage or supervise route development. Rather, we provide standards and guidelines that we recommend route developers follow. We also help parks and land managers develop standards and guidelines for route development on their land and act as a liaison between route developers and land managers. Accordingly, SCC assumes no liability for route development; this information is for the convenience of the climbing community only. Climb at your own risk and use your own judgment to evaluate any route and the fixed hardware placed there.
