The Southeastern Climbers Coalition was founded in 1993 when a group of
climbers banded together to help with ongoing access issues at Sunset
Rock, atop Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The group had
positive results from the start and went on to sponsor cleanups and trail
days at climbing areas. In 2001, when the boulders at Boat Rock were being
destroyed to make way for a housing development, the SCC raised $100,000
to purchase what they could of the remaining boulders and preserve them. As
of 2011, we now own and manage 5 climbing areas in Tennessee, Alabama,
and Georgia, and lease 2 others. We also own a parking lot for access to the
Deep Creek climbing area in Tennessee.
Our mission is to preserve climbing areas for future generations to enjoy.
To that end, the SCC works hand in hand with the Access Fund, the
Trust for Public Land, and The National Park Service.
Without all of the donations we receive as well as the many, many volunteers
that attend our events, keeping climbing areas open for future generations
would be impossible. Any and all donations are accepted, but we set the SCC
basic donation at a level of twenty-five dollars. With your donation, you will get our
newsletters, which contain updates on current projects that your donation(s) have
made possible.
Sustaining Donations, annual donations, and lifetime donations will make you an SCC member.

Help Float the Boat!
Boat Rock, located in the Sandtown Community in southwest Atlanta, is home to acres
of boulders that offer some of the southeast's finest bouldering.
The tract of land, once on the brink of being destroyed by development, was purchased
by the SCC and preserved as greenspace to provide recreational opportunities
for the public. Please help us take care of this invaluable resource to climbers
in the southeast. Any and all donations toward
the maintenance and other costs associated with Boat Rock will certainly help the cause.
