The "Help Float The Boat" campaign continues to march forward as the local climbing community has raised over $14,000.00 in 3 months. The SCC is currently negotiating a contract to purchase 7.7 acres of granite boulders and hardwood forest in southwest Atlanta. The goal is to make the area a community park/green space area protected from the threat of urban sprawl. Two offers have been made on the property by developers who wish to turn the area into a residential subdivision.

The SCC needs an additional $6,000 to meet our immediate goal of $20,000.00 for the down payment on the land. At that point we will be assuming an $80,000.00 loan to pay off the rest. The SCC has many fundraising plans underway to include grants from the Access Fund, boulder comps, slide shows and soliciting corporate and individual donors. One of the biggest fundraising events of the year will be the Sand Rock Hoe-Down Bouldering Competition on March 23rd. The SCC will also be hosting an upcoming slide show at Escalade Climbing Gym in Kennesaw and Wall Crawlers in Decatur. We need your donation to help keep Boat Rock open to climbers for future generations. With your help, we can make it happen. Any contribution will be welcome whether it be $10 or $1000.
