Steele is ready to go for the Spring season after the April 20th trail day. Volunteers mowed and weed whacked the parking area, cut back vegetation from the approach trails, and did some maintenance on rock stair cases.
There is a group of serious Birmingham trad climbing locals who have made Steele their home crag and really do their best to take care of the place and be its true stewards. To them, every day of climbing at Steele is a trail day, so there wasn't too much work to do. After three hours of work, we broke for snacks and cragging at this true southern gem.
# of volunteers = 7
# of hours = 3
Total volunteer hours = 21
Total dollars spent = $150 (food/prizes)
Note: Thanks goes out to REI, Sammy Raviv, Brad McLeod, and Steele locals for supporting this Trail Day!
