Horse Pens 40 is located near Steele, Alabama and home to slopers, slopers, and more slopers! Big slopers, little slopers, brainy slopers, overhanging slopers, slabby slopers. Good god almighty you'd better get your sloper love on. There are plenty of other cool sandstone features that make this tightly stacked area located between Birmingham and Gadsden, Alabama one of the best of it's size in the country.
Funky water grooves like Groove Rider and long overhanging sloper marathons such as Skywalker require a surprising amount of power, technique and commitment. Other must does include Mortal Combat, Super Koola, Great White, Trick Or Treat, Moon Arete and Megatron (just to mention a few). Great lines abound.
This has been the site of the Mortal Combat Bouldering Competition which was the brainchild of Adam Henry. He will again be a driving force in this competition as well.
