    Dirty South Film Fest Satisfies
Posted on Friday, May 14 @ 09:30:00 EDT by bradmc
Cool May weather ushered in another great year for the Dirty South Climbing Film Fest at WallCrawlers Gym in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. With a line up of awesome local climbing videos along with a national thriller - the stage was set for a killer evening of good times.

    WallCrawlers Gym host the DSCFF.

Will Eccleston (right) and John Hoseman swap notes on climbing films.

DSCFF event organizer, Will Eccleston explained "It's such an awesome event. It's great to raise funds to save more crags, but the best part is hanging out with a bunch of Atlanta area climbers that you might not see very often. Food, beer, climbing videos. What could be better? Oh yeah, climbing."

Thanks to Julie Reed and Allison Williams for helping to run the SCC raffle with great prizes from: Bluewater Ropes, Patagonia in Buckhead (ATL), some coupons for guiding/instruction from Fox Mtn Guides, an awesome climber tote and two chalk bags from Dolomite Climbing Bags, Metolius rock rings, SCC tshirts, two copies of the headlining film, "CORE" on DVD, some Metolius chalk bags and a batch of D's Climbing Holds from Kelly Dalton.

SCC Volunteer Tracy Meazell said "Another great evening benefitting the SCC, and amazing that everyone (young, traditional, sport and boulderer) come together with varied combined resources to help support the communal cause.. and drink beer."

The films this year were awesome and just seem to be getting better and better. We had some local climbers submit films and also a major headliner from a nationally known videographer.
    Crush - Lucius Williams
Pimp my Wall - Andrew Kornylak
Full Value - You and Eye Productions
    CORE - Chuck Fryberger Films

The food was awesome thanks to Jeff Mekolites and his great cooking skills and many thanks to Tracy Meazell for helping put it all together. Thanks to REI for a nice donation of $300 to help fund the food and to Steve Farace and Sweetwater for their help with beverages. The event raised $1,520 with a few expenses to be paid (food, eating utensils). http://photos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash1/hs509.ash1/30056_446179738064_689978064_5579366_7551898_s.jpg

Note: Thanks to all of our sponsors and WallCrawlers Gym for hosting the event.
