REI (www.rei.com) has granted The Southeastern Climbers Coalition (SCC) $5,300 to provide funding for trail days and cleanups at crags around the southeast. The grant will go to help with trail day supplies, food and materials for climbing areas such as Sand Rock, Foster Falls, Tennessee Wall, Leda, Castle Rock, Jamestown, Kings Bluff, Lost Wall and many others.

The SCC has been very fortunate to have worked with REI for over 14 years now on many climbing projects throughout the southeast. REI has provided prizes, gear, funding and volunteers to help keep our trail days and projects up and running. The SCC is very honored to have received this huge grant and will work hard to use this funding to keep our local crags safe, clean and in good shape for future climbers to enjoy.

Local climbers work hard to minimize impacts and restore areas at Little Rock City with planting native vegetation.

The SCC would like to thank the Brentwood Tennessee REI office to include Matt Waldron (long time Nashville climber and REI manager), and Chuck Robinson (REI outreach specialist) for recognizing the efforts of the SCC. We would also like to thank Gina Picard for putting together and submitting the grant. Thanks Gina!

Each year, REI donates millions of dollars to support conservation efforts nationwide, and sends scores of volunteers to build trails, clean up beaches, and teach outdoor ethics to kids. Through responsible business practices, REI strives to reduce our environmental footprint. We greatly appreciate REI's continued committment to the SCC and SEclimbing.
