In an unprecedented effort to help raise funds for direct action causes, Chaco has “teamed up” with Rock/Creek Outfitters, Alabama Outdoors, and The Triple Crown Bouldering Series.
|
Long recognized as a major contributor to environmental causes, Chaco, in conjunction with Rock/Creek Outfitters and Alabama Outdoors will provide unique Custom Performance Sandals for competitors to purchase at the 2005 Triple Crown Bouldering Series. Not only will the sandal straps be a custom color/design for Triple Crown, the sandals will also have the new Steath diamond pattern sole, which will not be available to the general public until 2006. –SWEEEEEETTT!!!
The retail cost of these sandals is $99, but in an effort to help competitors into the sandals and ultimately help raise money for Access, Chaco is covering a portion of the cost for all competitors of The Triple Crown. Hey, “that’s really cool,” you say, “but just how does this help Access?!?!?” The answer’s easy; proceeds from the sales of the custom Chacos will go toward helping the Southeastern Climbers’ Coalition and the Carolina Climbers’ Coalition with gaining permanent access to one of the best bouldering/trad climbing areas in the US—Rumbling Bald in western North Carolina!!
Rumbling Bald was recently on the Access “chopping block,” but through the efforts of the hardworking Carolina Climbers’ Coalition, the state of North Carolina is set to purchase land in and around “The Bald” and preserve the site as a State Park (this means permanent climbing access!!). It’s no secret, though, that the land there is very valuable and the state will need the help of the climbing community to close the deal.
Triple Crown and The Southeastern Climbers’ Coalition want to take the opportunity to say a huge thank-you to Chaco. These guys have quietly gone about the business of gaining and maintaining access for outdoor recreation for years. With the help of area retailers like Rock/Creek and Alabama Outdoors, Chaco will put close to $20,000 into direct action causes in 2006 here in the Southeast alone. Thanks Chaco for supporting access to the many outdoor resources here in the southeast and throughout the United States.
