Click for larger imageDespite grey skies and a threat of rain over 100 climbers showed up to support the Moss Rock "Chalky Dreams" competition. Located in Birmingham, Alabama, this bouldering area has seen a resurgence in recent years with many new hard boulder problems being put up along with local efforts to keep the area open and clean.

With temp's in the 50's, climbers scurried around through the boulderfield in search of their next problem. The event raised over $1,550.00 (before expenses) with all proceeds going to help with the purchase of Jamestown which is a climbing area located in northeast Alabama.

There was a great showing of local talent as Birmingham strongman, Jeremy Watson walked away with first place in the Men's Open division while Anne Shields clamped down to win the top spot in the Womens. Jeremy snagged a rare ascent of the sit down start to Reignition (V11).

    Check out the Reignition video:

The event was organized by local climber Lee Means and sponsored by High Country Outfitters - Birmingham and The Southeastern Climbers Coalition. Thanks to all of the volunteers and sponsors that showed their support for this event.
